Cindy Young is the president of One Part Sunshine, a blog based out of Charlottesville that focuses on green products for children. The blog is now being recognized by Parents Magazine for the 2013 Parents Blog Awards.
One Part Sunshine has become one part success. Young made her mark on the blogosphere from right here in Charlottesville. She started blogging when she was pregnant with her first child in 2007.
Young was shopping and searching through all of the baby products when she quickly realized how many unnatural and toxic chemicals are in the products. From that point, she started blogging about her experience and creating a mommy and baby product database as a part of the blog.
Young said, "I started it when I was pregnant with my son about 6 years ago and I went through the typical baby buying spree."
Six years later, she now has two children who keep her busy. They give her daily inspiration on how to be creative with her blog.
Young shared, "He inspires me and my daughter inspires me to look for creative ways to come up with ways to do it ourselves, make things homemade. I cook from scratch, I never did that before I had kids."
Parents Magazine recently learned about One Part Sunshine and has now nominated Young's blog in the 2013 Parents Blog Awards. She is honored to have the blog be one of five finalist in the "Most Likely to Inspire You To Change The World (Even Just a Little)" category.
Young said, "Just the fact that I have been nominated, I think is fantastic and I feel really honored. I hope that it at least lets more people know about my blog and that more people are able to get some of that information that I am trying to share about raising your kids in a non toxic way and using the safest and most natural products."
The voting for the 2013 Parents Blog Awards runs through February 24. More information can be found on Young's blog: www.onepartsunshine.com.
