Local Camp Resort Expecting Crowds This Weekend

May 23, 2014

It's that start of the Memorial Day weekend, which means many people are hitting the road, but not everyone is heading to the beach.

Some places around Charlottesville are also seeing an influx of people this weekend. The Misty Mountain Camp Resort is expecting to hosts a lot of people who are heading inland.

Campers at Misty Mountain typically come from the coastal regions during the holidays, but the camp does include a good mixture of locals as well.

Misty Mountain says the influx of people is a good thing for the local economy and a great means of revenue for other surrounding businesses in the Shenandoah Valley.

"First big weekend, schools getting ready to get out, everybody is trying to get away have a good time," says Michael Leo, the owner of Misty Mountain Camp Resort. "We started having a lot people arrive yesterday at the resort and we are expecting a sellout crowd this weekend."

Millions of Americans are hitting the road this weekend for Memorial Day. Unfortunately, they are also facing some of the highest gas prices this year.
