The Veterans from the Champ J Lawson, Jr. Post #2044 in Earlysville, Va. hosted a ceremony to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
People from the community gathered to pay tribute through music, speeches and a wreath laying ceremony.
Margo Sheridan, commander from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for the entire state of Virginia, gave the keynote address for the ceremony.
The commander for the Post #2044 VFW in Earlysville spoke about the true meaning of Memorial Day.
"Had it not been for those people who fought for our country, sacrificed their lives, we wouldn't be free today," says Ed Floyd. "So we are in the land of liberty today, and the home of the brave."
The children of the Nortonsville Church of God sang patriotic songs and the Cub Scouts from Pack #75 presented the flags.
All of this was done to honor those who served our country.
