Local Hotels Packed

March 7, 2013

With thousands of people out of power, many of them are choosing to spend a couple of nights in a hotel.

Some of the extra people looking for a room are workers involved with restoring power.

The electric companies bring in crews from all over Virginia to problem sports, like in Albemarle County.

The English Inn says they're giving everyone a discounted price because they know it's a tough time for families and utility workers.

Even the hotel workers are feeling the urgency.

"As soon as our power went back on, the phone has not stopped ringing," said Kathleen Palmer with the English Inn. "People need shelter. They're houses have trees on them or they have no heat, no power, so we've been making accommodations for it. It's been extremely busy."

Palmer says the people staying at the hotel are cooperating, and being very patient with each other.

She adds that the hotel community is working together to find room for people.
So even though the English In is full, they direct them to other nearby places with rooms.
