Local Man Invited to White House for World AIDS Day

A member of Charlottesville's AIDS Services Group's Board of Directors has been invited to the White House's observance of World AIDS Day.

This isn't Tom Donohue's first invite to the White House. Back in July, he was invited to the International AIDS Conference reception.

On Thursday he will again be visiting the White house to recognize World AIDS Day along with other HIV and AIDS advocates. They are gathering in hopes of becoming a generation free of AIDS.

"The intent from the White House is to create an opportunity to acknowledge the importance of World AIDS Day. It stands as a reminder to all citizens of the United States that HIV and AIDS is something we can't forget about and understand it is still infecting people and killing people everyday," Donohue said.

The Charlottesville AIDS Services Group will be recognizing World AIDS Day Saturday, December 1, by opening up the doors of their new home.
