The Clarence Jones Scholarship Foundation and members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity hosted a mother's luncheon to celebrate women in the area.
Over 200 people gathered at Monticello High School for the luncheon.
Proceeds from the luncheon go towards the Clarence Jones Scholarship Foundation that awards high school seniors around Central Virginia who are going to college.
The past president of the scholarship foundation says the luncheon is a great way for people to award hard working women in the community as well as give back to the students.
"We've been providing scholarships for the past 20 years and it's grown every year," says Ray Carey. "Over the past seven years we have awarded more than $35,000 in scholarships and we hope to do more this year."
They have raised $12,000 for scholarships in this year alone.
