The Charlottesville-Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau wants folks in Central Virginia to take their summer vacation in their own backyards.

The Stay Local, Play Local campaign is underway, and this year, the bureau is trying something new with a blogging contest.

The group is looking for people to write creative entries that highlight what locals can do for fun in Central Virginia, and the winners get a $150 gift card, among other perks.

"We want local people to be able to share their experience, whether it be a full day in the Charlottesville area or one specific experience they've had at a local restaurant or an attraction, and for them to be able to share that along with photos," said Bri Warner, the CACVB director of sales and marketing.

The posts that get the most engagement through Facebook will win the prize. The deadline for entries is Aug. 15.
