A Charlottesville High School student's generosity could send her to 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Molly Folger, a senior at CHS, created Scoring Goals to End Hunger, a community service project to raise $10,000 for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Last month, with help from Martha Jefferson Hospital, she donated $5,000 to the food bank's backpack program that sends food home with students in need.
Because of her efforts, Folger has been entered into the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership “Choose to Matter” Contest. The winner will be sent to the Olympics as a junior ambassador.
The contest is decided by online voting. Folger is currently in third place in the "New Jersey Academy Projects" section with 700 votes. There is a challenge donation that awards $500 to her cause when she reaches 1,000 votes.
To vote, click here. Voting ends on Feb. 21 at midnight PST.
