Mega Millions Jackpot has hit $425 million. That makes Friday night's drawing the second largest in Mega Millions history.
Some consider Friday the 13th an unlucky date, but folks at convenience store Lucky 7 in Charlottesville weren't letting that stop them from testing their luck
"It's been really busy this morning, all week, but this morning’s been really crazy," said clerk Tony Lechmanski
No one has won the jackpot in more than two months, and many point to the games tough new format. Players must pick six numbers from number 1 through 75, making the odds of hitting the jack pot one in 259 million.
"I won 50 bucks a couple of times, but I haven't won a penny since they made it harder," said Downing Smith.
Smith buys two lottery tickets every Friday. He says even the smallest jackpot would be enough for him.
“I'm not even sure what I would do with $400 million. Hopefully give some to charity, and make sure my family is taken care of for the rest of eternity," Smith said.
The lump sum payment is more than $200 million. The drawing is Friday at 11:00 p.m.
