Longtime Charlottesville Employee Retires

June 28, 2013

A long time Charlottesville employee turns in his keys for the last time on Friday.

Andrew Beverly is retiring after 41 years working with City Public Works.

The city and Beverly's sister helped to throw him a party at the municipal yard where he worked.

Beverly, also called "Cuz", says he enjoyed working for the city, but now plans on enjoying not working.

"Help my grandkids. Cut grass whenever I feel like it. I don't have to wait until the weekend. I do odd stuff around the house. When my mom is ready to go, when she gets up and goes we are gone. I don't have to take any more time off work."

Beverly says his favorite part about the job was working with a lot of different and interesting people.
