Longwood Student Injured in Accidental Shooting

A Longwood University student was injured after an accidental shooting, according to a news release from the school.

The statement says student Jacob Richardson was showing a gun he owns to a friend and fellow student, Kathleen Battle. The release says Richardson accidentally discharged the firearm.

Battle was shot in the leg. She was taken to Centra Southside Community Hospital with a minor injury.

Farmville Police are investigating the incident.
