A crowd gathered in Charlottesville to spread the message of "continuing the dream" of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Organizer Alex-Zan said the packed auditorium at the Carver Rec Center listened to songs and speeches about hope, peace and forgiveness.

"We are here to celebrate the life of and the works of Dr. Martin Luther king and to honor this great man that has laid the foundation for all of us to become better people, better citizens."

City manager Maurice Jones told the crowded room that King’s message stands of love and forgiveness still rings true today.

Organizers wanted people to leave today and carry out King’s words.
