Madison County Declares Local Emergency

October 28, 2012

Through a decision by the board of supervisors, Madison County has declared a local emergency in response to the potential widespread power outages, high winds and rain from Hurricane Sandy.

Madison County officials are warning residents to prepare for as many as 4 inches of rainfall with wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

A spokesperson says emergency personnel are prepared to respond quickly to any emergencies if needed. For more information, visit the Madison County website.

All county offices, absentee voting and the registrar’s office will be open on Monday, but Madison County Public Schools are closed.
