FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - Fairfax County police have made an arrest in the slaying of a 19-year-old college student in June 2010.
The stabbing death of Vanessa Pham had long baffled her friends, family and authorities. She was found dead inside her car, which was in a ditch off Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church.
Authorities say 27-year-old Julio Miguel Blanco-Garcia was arrested Thursday by U.S. marshals and turned over to Fairfax police. The Guatemalan national was charged with murder and questioned.
Police say they developed Garcia as a suspect this week through analysis of forensic evidence, but they're not releasing many details. Police say he was not acquainted with Pham.
Pham was a freshman at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
