(AP) - A 61-year-old Prince George County man has died after being shot during a hunting accident.
Media reports say Thomas Michael Harris died Tuesday after he was shot in Sussex County. The Disputanta man was struck in the head with a shotgun pellet or pellets on Monday while hunting with a local club.
According to the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, another hunter fired at a moving deer but hit Harris instead. Harris was wearing the required blaze orange.
Officials are still investigating the scene of the hunting death and talking to witnesses. They said it's too early to say whether the hunter who fired the fatal shot will be charged.
That decision will be made by a commonwealth's attorney.
