Charlottesville Fire Chief Charles Werner reports fire and rescue crews were dispatched to Midway Manor Thursday afternoon to assist a man who got his hand stuck in a snow blower.
Rescue crews arrived shortly after 2:15pm Thursday and discovered that the man's hand was caught between the snow blower tines and the blower tube. Captain Jay Davis was able to reverse the mechanism such that it freed the man’s hand.
Chief Werner says the patient’s hand was injured and he was transported by the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad to the hospital.
If something becomes lodged anywhere in a snow blower, Chief Werner recommends using something like a stick to try and free it while the machine is off. Never place your hand anywhere near the moving parts of the snow blower.
