Pounds of marijuana, multiple guns and thousands of dollars in cash was confiscated in a Greene County drug bust Tuesday evening that resulted in one arrest.
The Greene County Sheriff's Office, with help from the DEA, FBI and Greene County SWAT Team, arrested 30-year-old Floyde Dwayne Shifflett at his residence on Windsong Road in Barboursville.
Authorities seized approximately 10.5 pounds of marijuana, six marijuana plants, 2.1 ounces of powder cocaine, two bottles of medical cannabis tincture, numerous narcotics paraphernalia, a 9mm handgun, a .22 caliber AR15 rifle, five vehicles and $33,710 in cash.
Shifflett has been charged with distribution of marijuana, manufacture of marijuana, possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm with drugs, all felonies. He is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
Major Randall Snead says sometimes his department is not able to act as quickly as he would like, but adds it's important to make sure the case is solid so things run smoothly when it goes to court.
"When you go toward prosecution there is no question about what has happened of what has occurred, who is guilty and who is innocent," he said. "Obviously, as the Sheriff's Office, our first priority is to keep drugs off the street and away from the children in the county and we will continue that approach."
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests and/or property seizures are possible.
