The 12th Annual In The Pink Tennis Tournament put on by The Women's Committee of Martha Jefferson Hospital (MJH) will take place Saturday, September 27th.
The tournament is a fundraiser that benefits Marianne's Room at MJH. The shop is full of a variety of items including wigs, scarves, special "chemo caps," soft post-operative prostheses and camisoles. All of the items are free to cancer patients. Patients like Pam Newman, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment at Martha Jefferson.
"You just don't feel alone. At any point in the process you feel like someone is there supporting you and helping you look good and feel better,” says Newman. “It's been a good experience for me, a very good experience."
The committee hopes to raise $25,000 at this year's event.
The tournament will take place at nine tennis facilities throughout our area, and runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
