Martha Jefferson Hospital will soon be able to help more patients needing care thanks to a local organization.
The Women's Committee of Martha Jefferson presented a check to the hospital on Wednesday for $425,728 at the Boar's Head Inn in Albemarle County.
They raised the money during fundraisers like Martha's Market and the "In the Pink" tennis tournament. The money will help women who can't afford healthcare.
"I think it's absolutely fabulous. I think women taking care of women is so important. I think women's healthcare has to go forward and have the best care for women we can," said Katya Spicuzza, Founder, Women's Committee of Martha Jefferson Hospital.
The women's committee is already planning the 20th annual Martha's Market.
It will be held October 4th through Octorber 6th at the John Paul Jones Arena.
