Martha Jefferson Hospital's new medical campus will not only provide care in emergency situations, it will be a complete one-stop shop.

Patients will be able to fill prescriptions, receive inpatient and outpatient treatment, and go to doctor's appointments, as well as follow up appointments.

The proximity of all the medical facilities will also allow the doctors at the hospital to work better together.

"The ability to create teamwork and communication is always better when it can be done directly, there's nothing better than communicating with a co-worker. It will allow us to deliver better service to our patients," said Ron Cottrell, the vice president of planning.

In addition to medical facilities, the medical campus will also provide patients and staff with an outdoor space where they will be able to relax.

"We wanted to preserve views, and create outdoor space that integrated with indoor space," Cottrell added. "When you come in, you drive through a park."

The medical campus will include several miles of walking trails and a meadow.
