Martha Jefferson Hospital is getting a big boost to help patients in central Virginia.

The Women's Committee of Martha Jefferson presented the hospital with a check for nearly $336,000 Wednesday morning in the ballroom at Farmington County Club. The money was raised during the 2011 Martha's Market and 2011 In The Pink Tennis Tournament.

The hospital will use the proceeds to support several women's health programs in the Charlottesville area.

"My biggest hope is that it will help women who are suffering with cancer to make their life easier, to make their life better, to make it not a painful process and to help them in anyway that we can," said Terri Bailey, the 2011 Martha's Market Chair.

In the past, the support has helped fund breast health, technology, women’s midlife health, heart disease and outreach to underserved populations.
