WACO, Texas (AP) - Police in the town of West, Texas, say up to 15 people have been killed in a fertilizer plant explosion that also injured more than 160 and leveled homes and other buildings for blocks.
Rescue workers are still searching the rubble in the area for any more survivors. The town's mayor had said some firefighters battling a blaze at the plant before the explosion are missing.
A West Fire Department dispatcher says the explosion happened Wednesday night at a fertilizer plant. She says any casualties would be taken to hospitals in Waco. It was unclear how many were injured or if any fatalities occurred.
The Department of Public Safety says troopers have been transporting the injured to hospitals.
