Democrat Terry McAuliffe once again takes the lead when it comes to finances. He more than doubled Republican Ken Cuccinelli's October fundraising totals.
According to the Virginia Public Access Project, an independent, nonprofit tracker of Virginia campaign cash, McAuliffe had his best haul in October. He raised $8.1 million, and has $1.6 million on hand.
Republican Ken Cuccinelli raised a total of $2.9 million, with just over $600,000 on hand.
Libertarian Robert Sarvis raised just over $81,000, and has about $58,000 left on hand.
The Washington Post reports McAuliffe's total funds are approaching $35 million. His total beats the record for a Virginia governor campaign, which Governor Bob McDonnell set in his 2009 run with $24 million. Cuccinelli's total raised is just under $18 million.
