McAuliffe Proposes Limit on Gifts for Elected Va. Officials

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe wants wants more rules regarding gifts for Virginia elected officials.

McAuliffe released a proposal on Thursday, suggesting greater government transparency and banning the governor and his or her family from accepting gifts above $100.

McAuliffe says he would immediately apply this rule to himself if he were to tale office.

He also wants similar rules applied to the Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and members of Virginia's General Assembly.
