McAuliffe Responds to SEC Investigation

August 3, 2013

One day after the Washington Post reported a company co-founded by Democratic candidate for governor, Terry McAuliffe, was under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission, McAuliffe released the following statement.

"I left GreenTech in early December of 2012 to focus full time on running for Governor. The first I learned of this investigation was earlier this week when the Washington Post reached out to my campaign. I have no knowledge of the investigation other than what I have read in the papers."

According to reports, the SEC investigation began in early 2013 and focuses on claims that the electrical car company, GreenTech Automotive, guaranteed returns to its investors. McAuliffe co-founded the company in 2009 and resigned in December of 2012.
