RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Media General is eliminating 45 jobs at its Richmond headquarters.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1nvAlwh) reports the move is aimed at bringing Media General's corporate operations in line with other broadcast industry companies. Media General spokeswoman Lou Anne Nabhan says the goal is to have more decision-making responsibilities at the local station level.
Nabhan says some employees were let go immediately and other jobs will be eliminated later this year.
Last month Media General announced it was buying fellow TV broadcaster LIN Media in a deal worth about $1.6 billion in cash and stock. The combined company would own and operate or service 74 stations across 46 markets, reaching about 26.5 million households.
