One Charlottesville family ushered in the new year, with a new baby. Jennifer Hendrick was induced at 7am on Monday and nearly 16 hours later, she gave birth.
"We made it past the midnight mark and saw the ball drop and then he decided to come out," Jennifer said.
The Hendricks knew they were having a baby boy and already had their name picked out, Daffron.
That's my mom's maiden name we just thought it would be a sweet, unique first name for a sweet little boy," David Hendrick said. "He'll probably be the only Daffron in his class and we will probably have to spell it and pronounce it for everyone forever, but that's okay. Hopefully he wont hold it against us."
The first-time parents say they are most worried about getting sleep, but say they are filled with excitement more than anything else.
"I can't wait to do all the cliche dad things," David said. "I can't wait to throw a ball with him and take him fishing and just have a little guy running around the house."
The Hendricks say they haven't ruled out plans for more children in the future, but for now, are content with getting to know their brand new baby boy.
