Military Women Gather in Va. for Symposium

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Women in the military are gathering in downtown Norfolk for an annual leadership symposium.

The Sea Service Leadership Association says the annual event is the largest gathering of military women, and includes women from every branch of the military.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is scheduled to be a featured speaker on Thursday. The event will also feature Ashley Finch, the head of partnership for

There will also be a full schedule of senior military and civilian leaders on Friday.

This year's symposium will address topics relevant to women in the military, including career planning, mentorship and leadership development. Topics will also explore challenges faced by servicewomen, including sexual assault prevention, gender policies and personal well-being.
