The University of Virginia's Miller Center held a event Monday to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event was hosted by its new forum chair Doug Blackmon, the Wall Street Journal's Senior National Correspondent and the author of a Pulitzer Prize winning book "Slavery by Another Name."
During the event Blackmon spoke about Dr. King's legacy. He hopes to move forward on the dialogue of public policy issues in America at the Miller Center.
"I think over the next year we want to be very cognizant of the presidential election and have speakers who can speak to some of the issues that will be important in the campaign," he said.
Blackmon will be a full time faculty member of the Miller Center in February.
