The next generation of Mozarts may have been discovered at a Charlottesville and University Orchestra event on Sunday.

Before the concert started at Monticello High School, dozens of children took part in an instrument petting zoo.

Kids were able to walk around to members of the orchestra to learn about their instrument, how it works and how to actually play it.

Whether it was the flute, cello or harp, kids were able experiment for themselves how to make music.

Five-year-old Lily Colle tried every instrument and went back to the flute for a second time. Her father says it's great to see her trying new things.

"She's tried a lot of instruments today, and hopefully the light-bulb clicks on and she'll pick an instrument that interests her. Then we'll take it from there, maybe some lessons and then who knows, maybe someday an opera or a ballet or the orchestra," Steve Colle said.

Organizers say they think the members of the orchestra may have had even more fun at the event than the kids did.
