The mother of a Charlottesville elementary school student, accused of shooting another student with an air soft gun on the school bus, says her son did not mean to hurt anyone.
The Jones family says their child was shot in the head with an air soft gun on a Charlottesville school bus last week. They say the shooter shot at the head of their nine-year-old son, K-yon Jones.
The mother of the shooter says, her son did not intentionally shot K-yon in the head. She says her son shot a surveillance camera on the school bus and the pellets ricocheted, hitting a student.
The mother didn't wanted to be identified, but wrote a letter to CBS19, saying: "Let me start by saying I'm sorry for what my child has done. I'm not saying what he has done is right but I would like to just say that from my understanding, when I got to the school about the situation the principal stated the camera showed that my child shot at the camera."
K-yon's mother, Takiyah Jones says she talked with the child who shot the gun and was told the pellets of the gun ricocheted.
The mother of the shooters says she has taken away the air soft gun.
School administrators say they have started disciplining the involved student.
