Book lovers stepped into the shoes of a famous literary detective on Friday when the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library hosted the Nancy Drew Convention.

This year's theme focused on the 34th book of the acclaimed series, The Hidden Window Mystery. The book was set in Charlottesville and those at Friday's event got the chance to visit landmarks like Monticello and Ash Lawn-Highland, just like detective Nancy Drew did in the book.

Around 100 people participated in the convention. One such attendee, Alexa Berezeiuk, took three flights to jet down from Canada for the special event.

"I like the old ones better, but I just like how she solves the mysteries. I just like it all," she said.

The Nancy Drew Convention continues on Saturday at the Holiday Inn University from 9am to 5pm. It includes speakers, presentations, and activities and young and old fans of the series.
