April 26, 2013

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is offering the public a safe and easy way to get rid of unused prescription drugs.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is an opportunity for those who have accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications.

You can drop off prescription medications at the following location on Saturday, April 27, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM:
- The front lobby of the Albemarle County Police Department on 5th Street
- The front lobby of the Charlottesville Police Department
- The Outpatient Care Center at Martha Jefferson Hospital
- The emergency room parking lot of Martha Jefferson Hospital on Proffit Road

In the five previous Take-Back events, DEA and other law enforcement partners have collected more than 2 million pounds of prescription medications.
