On Monday, the University of Virginia's Miller Center of Public Affairs brought together a group of national leaders to investigate the problems that face higher education.
Governors, state legislators and education leaders came together to discuss ways in which they can improve higher education.
Those at the forum discussed ways to increase the number of college degrees received each year, changes that can be made to cut operating costs, and the need for a public agenda to improve education quality with fewer public resources.
This is the second year the Miller Center has hosted a forum.
"What makes this one even more unique is that we have brought in even more partners and even more national organizations to help us with this agenda," said Heather Crislip the Special Assistant for Policy Programs.
A report on Monday's meeting and recommendations will be released early next year.
