APARTMENTS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION:
The Flats, the new student apartments on West Main Street, are set to open in ten days. But they are still under construction, and several students are nervous they won't be finished in time. If the apartments are not ready, residents will be put in hotels while they wait.
MCDONNELL CORRUPTION TRIAL:
State employees took the witness stand today in the corruption trial against former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen. The witnesses provided details on the several favors the first family gave Jonnie Williams for gifts and loans.
EBOLA RESEARCH AT UVA:
Researchers at the University of Virginia are studying the Ebola virus and how it works on the body's cells. They are hoping they can find a cure for the deadly virus. But there is no need for alarm, U.Va. does not work with live strains of Ebola.
UVA BASKETBALL PLAYERS ARRESTED:
U.Va. basketball player Evan Nolte was arrested over the weekend on the U.Va. corner. The 20-year-old was charged with being drunk in public. A third-year for the Virginia Cavaliers, he played a key role in the teams NCAA tournament.
GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES SPECIAL ELECTION:
Governor Terry McAuliffe announced a special election to fill Representative Eric Cantor’s congressional seat. The special election is set for November 4th, which is the same day as the General Election.
