SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN VIRGINIA:
A federal appeals court in Richmond has denied a request to delay its ruling striking down Virginia's same-sex marriage ban Wednesday. That means that without intervention from the U.S Supreme Court, same-sex couples could be getting married by next Wednesday.
NEW SCHOOL YEAR, NEW SCHOOL BUILDING:
Wednesday was the first day of school for students in Louisa County, and the first day inside a brand new school for students at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. The old building was damaged beyond repair in the 2011 earthquake.
HEALTH SYSTEM EXPANDING AD REACH:
The U.Va. Health System is expanding its team of nurses, by placing an ad at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The decision was made given how busy the airport is. And the ad is working, with U.Va. getting a few calls from interested nurses.
RUCKERSVILLE MAN FACING ASSAULT CHARGES:
31-year old Shane Shifflett from Ruckersville was arrested by the Albemarle County Police Department on assault charges. He allegedly broke into a home on Dutchman Road and assaulted the person inside. CBS 19 is told the two knew each other.
CHANGES TO CAT SERVICES:
Charlottesville Area Transit is making schedule changes to its service starting this Saturday. The biggest changes will be to Route 1, where service well be restored to Monticello Road on its return trip from PVCC.
