EASTERN SHORE TORNADO:
A tornado touched down at a campground resort in Northampton County on the Eastern Shore of Virginia Thursday morning. Two people, a couple from New Jersey, were killed when a tree fell on their tent. More than 30 people were injured in the storm.
NEW VOTER ID LAWS:
New voter I.D. laws are going into effect in Virginia. The Albemarle County registrar's office is urging anyone without a picture I.D. to sign up for one. Otherwise, they will have to go through some hurdles to cast their vote come election-day on November 4th.
MISSING FLUVANNA COUNTY WOMAN:
More information on missing Fluvanna County woman Janet Renee Field: Her car, found July 4th, had her purse, keys and cellphone. But her driver's license, credit cards, and all her money were missing. Anyone with information should call the Fluvanna County Sheriff's office: (434) 589-8211.
A Charlottesville-based auto-dealer continues to expand its empire. Today, Carter Myers Automotive announced it has purchased Staunton Nissan and Staunton Subaru. Carter Myers already owns dealership in Charlottesville, Richmond, and the Shenandoah Valley.
UVA DEVELOPING A NEW DRUG:
U.Va. has developed a special new drug, called Amixicile that fights C-Difficile, a dangerous super-bug that lives in the gut and is drug resistant. Amixicile works in a way that prevents the bacteria from become drug resistant and it spares the good bacteria.
