Nelson county businesses have teamed up to boost tourism in the area with an app.

The app is called Nelson 151. A launch party kicked off the release at Veritas Winery in Nelson County on Thursday evening.

The goal is to help tourists find their way around to attractions around Route 151 in Nelson.

The app syncs with your GPS to tell you what breweries, wineries, and other businesses are closest to you, In addition to breweries, cideries, distilleries the app also tells you of bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and other businesses.

"There's so much to offer out here," said said Tim Gorman, winemaker and vineyard manager at Cardinal Point Winery. People come out here because it's beautiful. They come out to taste the great wine, beer, cider. What most people don't know is everything else. We want, I want people to come out and enjoy Cardinal Point wine, obviously, but then I want to show off everthing else about Nelson County, which is, there's a lot to show off. The apps gonna help us do that."

The also provides maps and directions, events, and deals.

The free app is available for iPhones Android phones. To find it, search for Nelson 151 mobile.
