The trial for Robin Pfeifer, one of two people charged with animal cruelty in Nelson County, has been postponed. It was scheduled to begin Wednesday morning.

No reason was immediately given for the postponement and a new trial date has not been released.

Robin, 56, and her husband Bruce Pfeifer, also 56, have been charged with ten misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals and nine misdemeanor accounts of failure to bury or cremate animal remains. after three dead dogs, several bags of canine skeletons and deplorable living conditions were found at their home on Rockfish Valley Highway in Nelson County.

Nine dogs were taken from the house alive and continue to be nursed back to good health by animal control and the Lovingston Veterinary Hospital.

According to the Nelson County SPCA, the animals cannot be given up for adoption until the trial ends because Pfeifer could be found not guilty and regain custody of the dogs.

Police continue to search for Bruce Pfeifer, who was reported missing by his wife in early March.

Robin Pfeifer was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond in late March after being arrested a week earlier.

Hmmm, makes you wonder if the husband is above or below ground! People like her become numb between the ears when confronted with what is before them. The pity is the dogs still love people like her!
