Green Applications, a screen printing company, says they are right on track to bring hundreds of jobs to Gordonsville.
They made the announcement back in March saying that they were setting up shop in the old American Press building in Gordonsville, bringing over 300 new jobs to the area.
Currently they are renovating the building, purchasing equipment and preparing for the hiring process. So far nearly 1,200 people have applied for jobs listed on their website.
Brendai Shelton is one of those applicants and hopes that her name will soon be called.
“For someone who is looking for a job right now, I'm just looking for one as soon as possible,” says Shelton.
She says that these jobs are needed in the area.
“It's a good opportunity that we have new jobs coming to Gordonsville and hopefully we will expand, make more money and Gordonsville will be a better place,” says Shelton.
Jim Holladay used to work in the American Press building before it was shut down. He says he is also excited about the future of Gordonsville.
“I worked at American Press for 38 years, from the day it opened to the day it closed down,” says Holladay. “We lost about 200 jobs and this place is supposed to have 300 jobs, so that's good for the town, good for restaurants and we're looking forward to it.”
They are expecting to have jobs in areas like production, administration, management and sales.
People who are interested in applying should go on Green Applications and click on the “Apply Now” button on the bottom of the screen.
They are hoping to finish the renovation phase by June and begin hiring people by July. They want to begin production by the end of the summer.
