New Housing Community Opens for Charlottesville Seniors

August 28, 2013

The Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) is showing off its newest affordable housing community for area seniors.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday morning to officially open Timberlake Place.

Located in the Woolen Mills area of Charlottesville, Timberlake Place features 26-units of affordable housing for seniors, aged 55 and older.

“The idea behind this is that seniors belong in a community and not in a big box out in the cornfield somewhere,” says Christopher Murphy with JABA. “So we're delighted to be able to have them in the Woolen Mills neighborhood, where they'll be welcomed as an integral part of their community.”

The new community has already reached full capacity.

Some of the new residents are still moving in, and should be settled by this weekend.
