The Catholic Church has chosen a new pope.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina is now the leader of the world's 1.2 Billion Catholics.

He has taken the name Pope Francis.

White smoke billowed from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel around 2:00 PM, meaning 115 cardinals in a papal conclave elected the new leader.
