New Program Asks Volunteers to be a Summer Santa to a Senior

July 14, 2014

Home Instead Senior Care (HISC) is celebrating Christmas in July with their new program, Be a Summer Santa to a Senior.

The program is similar to the December Santa program HISC does, but instead of presents and wrapping paper, the organization is asking volunteers to give their time.

HISC says there are a lot of places around Charlottesville that could use some Christmas spirit in the middle of July.

"We know a lot of assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and even non-profit organizations that are well aware of seniors that would be interested in having someone give off their Santa spirit with them this summer,” said Service Representative Christine Shaw.

HISC says the summer Santa program is also a great volunteer opportunity for kids who have the summer months off.
