(AP) A North Carolina man who bought five Powerball tickets while passing through Virginia has won $1 million.

The Virginia Lottery says Glenn Petke of Stoneville bought the tickets for last week's record-setting $587.5 million Powerball drawing when he stopped for gas at Mr. B's Welcome Center in Harrisonburg. Petke was going to Connecticut to visit family members.

One of Petke's tickets matched the first five numbers to win $1 million. Three other tickets sold in Virginia also were good for $1 million in the Wednesday night drawing.

Petke, a superintendent with a general contracting firm, said he doesn't plan to retire. He does plan to pay of his mortgage.
