Nuclear Reactor Shut Down for Maintenance at North Anna

April 9, 2013

Dominion Virginia Power has shut down one nuclear reactor at the North Anna Power Station for refueling.

Refueling is typically conducted at eighteen-month intervals, and should take about one month.

In a memo to employees, Dominion said, a portion of the reactor will be replaced, and a number of maintenance activities will be performed. Crews are expected to repair a coolant system valve, and seal maintenance on a coolant pump.
