After weeks of warning, there will now be a recount in the race for the Virginia Attorney General's Office.
Trailing Democratic state Senator Mark Herring by 165 votes, Republican Mark Obenshain's attorneys filed the petition Wednesday morning with Richmond Circuit Court.
The race is the closest in modern Virginia political history and the recount is likely to be the state's most extensive.
Herring was declared the winner on Monday, after the State Board of Elections certified the votes.
