The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM as officials monitor storm conditions.
The EOC’s main safety concerns are related to power outages, downed trees and driving conditions in the area.
Roads across the region are in very poor condition and officials are advising everyone to stay home if possible. At this time, no serious crashes and/or injuries have been reported.
There have been numerous reports of trees and power lines blocking roads. Contact VDOT or Dominion Virginia Power if you come across a downed power line
The City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County have both declared a local emergency. This does impact some roads and parking in the City of Charlottesville. Once a local emergency is declared, officials can request additional support from the state.
Albemarle County Police Department, Charlottesville Police Department and UVa Police are all working on a modified response. Officers are responding to calls with injury or safety hazards, not minor calls. Police urge patience as they work to respond to high priority calls.
