Local residents are learning more about the changes to come to the Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) system.
The changes to the CAT buses were presented at an informational session at CitySpace on Monday. Changes to area bus routes are to take effect on January 4th.
There will be several changes to routes:
- Route 4 will no longer go in and out of several neighborhoods, but Route 6 will.
- Route 2-A will be replaced by Route 11, and Route 2-B will be absorbed into Route 3.
- Route 9 will now go between the University of Virginia hospital and Fashion Square Mall.
"These changes are going to get our buses more on time,” Charlottesville Transit Manager John Jones said. “They're going to be more reliable, they're going to be more convenient, they're going to be more direct, and a little quicker going to and from your destinations. And as we move forward, we're going to make small changes to make that even better as we go through."
More information on bus routes can be found at the link on the right side of this article.
A second meeting will be held at CitySpace at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec 28.
