One Killed in Albemarle County Fire

March 23, 2014

One person has died in a Free Union fire on Sunday, and firefighters are still investigating the cause.

Crews received a call for the fire around 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3400 block of Millington Road in Albemarle County. When they arrived on scene, they weren't able to get inside because of items packed in the house.

"The house is pretty well burnt, so it's going to be very difficult to get in and it's going to take some time to figure out what caused the fire," said Preston Gentry, chief of the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department.

Nearly 10 different crews from Charlottesville and Albemarle County responded to the fire.
