There's a week left for people to adopt pets at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA at a price that's kind to the wallet.
The Freedom Adoption Special at the CASPA runs through Sunday, July 13. Until then, all adult dogs and cats are available for adoption with no adoption fees.
It's happening at the same time the no-kill shelter is offering free spays or neutering for cats.
The events are to encourage people to welcome a new member to their families.
"It's a great thing. All adoption fees are waived," animal care manager Ryan Willis said. "We're just looking to help get these animals to good homes."
For those who want to help the SPCA in another way, the public can sign up to be a foster for dogs and cats, which often allows for healthier pets.
